We no longer live in the days where men just do male things and women just do the female things.Genders are blurred responsibilities are shared, women carry the burdens that men once carried alone, being the bread winners putting food on the tables whilst creating homes and bringing up children. Men are trying to forge careers for them selves whilst sharing school runs putting away washing and general distraction from nosey free spirited children. We live in an age where we are doing our best to be emotionally conscious to listen to our children's emotional needs, which creates more noise and mess and yes stress. Combined with all the pressures of creating a life in a crazy world that we inhabit right now.
When you break down the energy and the ideals of the genders:
The masculine; being out in the world creating pushing through life on a focused mission to succeed and achieve .Whilst the feminine is surrendered, trusting, letting go in flow, nurturing and caring holding space, calm and connected. There is a huge amount of power and strength in both however it is easy for the feminine to be stomped out of us all just in the simple day to day mission of keeping up with our lives in what is currently a very masculine energy dominated world.
From a very young age I have been fascinated by a more feminine approach to life, i remember my Mum having feminist meetings with her girl friends in the 80’s wearing doc martins sporting filo faxes. It was all about women being as strong as men I remember at quite a young age maybe 8 thinking I'm sure that if you were more feminine you would have more success.
My life seemed to force me into learning how to be more accepting more surrendered and i flow as in my 20’s I collapsed with chronic fatigue a horrid illness which turned out to be my life’s amazing gift. Basically from years of pushing doing to much and not listening to myself eventually I crashed and was literally forced to start listening to myself and what I needed. This is where my journey of surrender and healing and trusting even when things feel out of control began. Now I can see that these are the most incredible tools and techniques for everything in life, when you slow down and surrender and trust that the answer is out there we don't need to fight stress force our way ahead then things miraculously fall in your lap.
I use these lifestyle tools in so many ways in my life right now starting my new business and everything in my life really. When your an artist quite often the choices you make can cause a bit of a tangle so I have had so much opportunity to practice a more surrendered flowing attitude to life, for which I am so grateful. As with out this I wouldn't be inspired to combine the two loves in my life self development and a love of style.I especially use this with my connection to style and finding things I want to wear and love in my life. So often people say to me well thats just your gift your a natural and yes there is truth in that but it also possible to learn an easy way to be with your style.
For me its all about taking the principles of femininity: Letting go of the stress and the story you may have about who you are. Nurture yourself and vision of who you see yourself as who you most want to be, Surrender and accept the journey. Trust that whatever you desire is available with ease and it will show up.
Believe me it works, in the sleepy town of Bradford-On-Avon near Bath I often pop in to my local designer exchange shop as it the only shop really with clothes in here and pick up bags full of beautiful clothes. Last week I popped in and an actress had just dropped a huge bag of vintage Ghost dresses and tops of all my size and favourite colours. Only a few days before Id been thinking how much I loved a Ghost dress I used to wear in my 20’s and I was sad I’d given it away, things like this happen all the time and Im certain it because I have developed a surrendered attitude to style.
Fashion and style don't have to be fast pace and stressful there is huge potential for healing in the world if we change our attitudes to how we consume, we could help clear up the stress of the fast fashion industry and help be part of the shift to a more conscious and self connected way of being. If we all adopted more of these types of attitudes prehaps the world would be a happier calmer place to live?
