We all have different ideas about what luxury is and how free we feel to access this within in our lives. Often things can feel out of bounds to us for reasons little known to ourselves except for they don't feel right, voices like I can’t go there or do that, wear that, or experience this echo in our heads. Making us feel this Its just not what I do.When you think about it the world has so much variety with in it unbelievable amounts of beauty and luxury to experience and enjoy so why is it we limit our choice to; where we end up in life or what feels safe, what we know or have already experienced before and so on.
I love luxury for as long as I can remember I’ve naturally been drawn to sparkly things, fabrics which feel super soft and silky, rooms which are beautiful. I’m not sure where this love came from its just me but I do have understanding on how I give my self permission to experience luxury in my life.
I can pretty safely say that I would feel as at home in a palace in a pink (fake) fur coat lounging on lovely sofas sipping champagne (if i drank!) as I would sat in a field with nothing but countryside and mud. I feel pretty free with mixing in different environments with all different types of people, after all ultimately whatever our position within society, lifestyle and so on at the end of the day were all dealing with the same thing; ourselves our feelings and how we relate to our lives. The richest people can feel the most imprisoned and the poorest the most free and visa versa. Feelings are feelings and they don't really take into consideration the reality of our circumstances, it takes a logical mind to do that which is hard when your feelings have hijacked it.
Depending on our own personal stories depends how we allow ourselves to access the incredible levels of luxury there are in the world. We put so much down to our situations as to wether we allow ourselves to have or experience something, stomping on our desires and just giving up and getting on with out really questioning why? The truth is we can all wear cashmere and silk and pretty jewellery if we want to, every day in fact even just to clean the house in if we want. These are one of life's little luxuries and they can be found everywhere whatever your budget. In Harrods and Liberty’s in M&S in charity shops, car boot sales everywhere the whole world is full of the stuff I pick up beautiful things everywhere I go. We can all sit in beautiful hotel restaurants they are everywhere even if you just have tea, Its mostly down to how much permission you are willing to give yourself to enjoy these things, which is highly influenced by your personal story.
So here is my story I was born in a squat, I’ve lived in a council house, I've lived in a huge beautiful Bath town house, I’ve lived in ashrams and tibetan monasteries in India at the age of 10. I’ve seen huge riches and extreme poverty from a young age, everything you see and experience imprints you in some way. Then there is your family history. Lots of families have a lost and found money story my Great grandparents had a large estate and lost their money my grandmother married for love and ended up bringing her children up in a very rough area far from her childhood luxury. I’m a child of the property boom and my parents have both done very well with property they were cleaver and bought in the right places at the right time. I was brought up in one of the most beautiful parts of England where wealth simply seeps from the buildings into your soul. I wasn't brought up spending lots of money we hardly ever ate out but we always had the best quality food home grown and organic. With my mum being an Artist and my Dad a musician our homes were full of beautiful art and antiques we had a bohemian quality life style with lots of people and friends, music and parties in beautiful places. My life experience and family history has influenced me in many ways.
When you take time to look back at your family history and your life experiences you can begin to see your own personal map and can understand more about why you may be feeling free in certain areas or locked up in others. The amazing thing is when you decide to become conscious of yourself and your story and chose to take actions out of these zones then your life responds around you and the things you begin to attract change. Its like magic it works almost instantly.
So for me a luxury mindset is one where you chose to be free to choose which levels of luxury you allow into your life, because its all out there ready to experience the only question is are you going to give yourself permission?
